The Speech and Hearing Clinic (SHC) is committed to providing clinical services of the highest quality to individuals with communication disorders. The clinic also provides training opportunities for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students, including clinical practicum, supervision, and research. Treatment of the whole person requires interdisciplinary resources; therefore, the clinic functions within a referral network of human service professionals.
The purpose of clinical education in the WCU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is to provide opportunities for observation of and supervised clinical practice with a diverse clinical population. Scottish Rite Masons began their commitment to the cause of helping children with language disorders more than twenty-five years ago. Since that time 170 Scottish Rite Centers have been located throughout the Southern Jurisdiction. These centers are staffed by speech-language pathologists and other trained personnel.
